Gymnastics Beats BGSU For Second Straight MAC Win

MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan University gymnastics team made it two straight Mid-American Conference wins with a 193.975-193.025 win over Bowling Green on Sunday afternoon at Rose Arena.
The win improves CMU's record to 3-8 overall and 2-3 in the MAC. The Chippewas' first conference win came last week against Kent State.
Leading Central were some outstanding performances by senior co-captains Laura Chow and Gina Black.
Chow took top honors in the vault with a 9.875 and on the balance beam with a 9.85. She also tied for fifth on the bars with a 9.75.
Black won the all-around with a score of 38.850. She also tied for fifth on the bars (9.75) and tied for sixth in the floor exercise with a 9.825. Black also had a 9.60 on the vault and a 9.675 on the balance beam.
Michele Orloski tied for first in the floor exercise with a 9.925 and Tammy Verrinder and Sarah Nelson tied for the top spot on the bars with a 9.85.
Verrinder also tied for third on the vault (9.725) and floor exercise (9.85) and took third in the all-around (38.700).
Other top scores were turned in by Tara Cartier who took second on the balance beam (9.825), Andrea Price who tied for sixth in the floor exercise (9.825) and Orloski who tied for third in the vault (9.725).
The Chippewas travel to North Carolina State for the Wolfpack Invitational on March 3.
