Gymnasts Take Fourth At Michigan Classic

MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan gymnastics team took fourth place at the Michigan Classic held on Sunday at Rose Arena.
Michigan State won the meet with 195.500 points and was followed by Eastern Michigan (193.400), Western Michigan (192.800) and Central Michigan (192.600).
Michele Orloski led the Chippewas with a first-place finish in the floor-exercise with a 9.90. Orloski tied with Sara Wasilenko of Eastern Michigan and Jane McIntosh of Michigan State for top honors.
Tammy Verrinder turned in a third-place finish in the all-around with a score of 38.775. Verrinder also tied for fifth in the floor exercise (9.825) and tied for sixth on the bars (9.775).
Andrea Price tied for second on the balance beam with a 9.80 while Laura Chow tied for second on the vault (9.80) and took fourth on the balance beam with a 9.825.
Sarah Dame tied for second on the vault with a 9.80 and took sixth in the all-around with a 37.550.
Highlighting the meet was Eastern Michigan's Natalie Hashimoto who posted a 10.00 on the vault.
Other individual event winners included Michigan State's Christy Linder who won the all-around (39.275), McIntosh and Sara Trudeau of Western Michigan who tied for first on the balance beam (9.90) and Melissa Green of MSU who won the beam (9.90).
The Chippewas host Eastern Michigan on Feb. 11.
