Women's Track Takes Second At Michigan Intercollegiates

ANN ARBOR -- The Central Michigan University's women's track squad edged out Eastern Michigan for second-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships at the University of Michigan on Saturday, afternoon.
The University of Michigan came away with the top spot (175 pts) followed by CMU (117), Eastern Michigan (115.50), Western Michigan (54.50) and Detroit Mercy with 32 points.
Amanda Storck broke her own school record in the pole vault with a jump of 12-0. She finished second in the event. She set the mark with an 11-8 effort last week.
Suzy Bozin matched her season-best jump in the high jump (5-10) and Maria Derezinski had her best jump of 2002 (19-2 1/2) in the long jump. Each captured CMU's only first-place finishes.
Derezinski also provided a second-place finish in the triple jump (38-1 1/2) and a third place finish in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-8. Kia Johnson also turned in top three performances for the Chippewas, finishing second in the 200m (25.07) and third in the 60m with a time of 7.71.
