CMU Competes At MSU Open

EAST LANSING - The Central Michigan University wrestling team (0-0, 0-0 Mid-American) took part in the Michigan State Open on Saturday, Nov. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 10, with 149-pounder Mark Disalvo (Dayton, Ohio/So.), who competed unattached, being the lone placer for CMU. There was no team scoring at the event.
Disalvo was the only Chippewa to qualify for the Sunday's session. Disalvo lost his first match of the day on Saturday, but fought back to win his next four matches. He lost in the consolation quarterfinals, but was victorious in the seventh place match.
Four Chippewas were still alive after the first session on Saturday, but three of the four were eliminated during the second session. Mike Moran (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Fr.) at 197 and unattached Tom Treadway (Lemont, Ill/Fr.) at 184 lost in the consolation fourth-round, and Nate Edwards (Port Huron/Fr.) at 165 lost in the consolation third-round.
Next up for the Chippewas will be the Maroon/Gold intersquad meet on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2:00 p.m. The meet will be held at Rose Arena.
