EVANSTON, Ill. - Senior Desiree Eidson scored 20 points in powering the Central Michigan University's women's basketball team to 49-39 victory over Yale in the consolation round of the Mildred and Roger White Invitational here Saturday night.
The Chippewas are now 4-2 for the season while the Elis fall to 1-5.
CMU held a slim 29-27 lead with 9:31 remaining in the game when it went on a 15-3 run to take a 44-30 lead with 2:58 left. Eidson scored nine of the points in the run.
The Chippewas held a 38-34 edge in rebounding behind Eidson's 10, and shot 38 percent from the field on 19-of-50. Yale was 17-of-53 for 32 percent.
Eidson earned all-tournament honors for the second time this season. She was also all-tourney at the First Tennessee Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee, last week.
Freshman Erin Kuhl continued to show her versatility for CMU with nine points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
While the Chippewas shot a less-than outstanding nine-of-17 (52.9 percent) from the free throw line, Yale never attempted a foul shot the entire game.
CMU returns to action on Saturday, December 14, when it plays at the University of Detroit-Mercy.
