MOUN PLEASANT --The Central Michigan University women's track team competed in the non-scoring Jack Skoog Open on Friday evening in Mount Pleasant.
The Chippewas were led by Suzy Bozin who finished first in the high jump with a jump of 6-0. The mark earned her an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship meet and also broke the school record. She held the previous record of 5-11, which she set last season.
Others taking first for CMU were Melissa Miller in the mile (5:16.6), Abby Jaroscak in the 60m hurdles (8.86), Kari Karhoff in the 400m (56.87), Kia Johnson in the 60m (7.69) Amber Bright in the 200m (26.11), Karen LeRoy in the 3,000m (10:28.67) and Amanda Storck in the pole vault (12-2 1/2).
The Chippewas took nine first places in the nine-team event. Other teams competing were Michigan State, Lake Superior State, Olivet College, Saginaw Valley State, Grand Valley State, Northwood, Ferris State, Alma College and Michigan Tech.
The Chippewas return to action on Feb. 22-23, when they travel Bowling Green State University for the Mid-American Conference championship meet.
