Wrestling Annouces Year-End Awards

MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan wrestling team held its annual recognition banquet on Sunday, April 14, and gave out its season-ending awards.
Picking up the top award of the night was Jordan Webster (Washington, Ill./Jr.), who received the Charles "Chick" Sherwood award for most valuable wrestler. Kevin Carr (Warsaw, Ind./So.) picked up the Harry Richards coaches award, while Derek Phillips (Grosse Pointe/Jr.), Jeff Pangborn (Durand/So.) and Joe Ray Barry (Mason/So.) all received the "TEAM" award. Norm Smith of Mount Pleasant was named "Fan of the Year" by the team for his support over the season.
David Bolyard (Akron, Ohio/Fr.) won "Freshman of the Year" and tied for most nearfalls, Jason Borrelli (Mount Pleasant/Fr.) won most falls, most team points and tied with Bolyard for most nearfalls . Ty Morgan (Huber Heights, Ohio/So.) won the award for most takedowns.
