Field Hockey Drops Second Straight

MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan University field hockey team (3-2 overall) fell to the No. 8 Michigan State Spartans on Tuesday afternoon in Kelly/Shorts Stadium, 4-0.
It is the Chippewas second straight shut-out loss after starting the season 3-0.
The Spartans' Theresa Pusateri opened up the scoring at the 17:42 mark. MSU added two more goals in the next ten minutes to put the game out of reach.
CMU came on strong in the second half, getting off nine shots, none of which could find the back of the net.
Chippewa goaltender Janel Spero (Shoreham, N.Y.) made nine saves and allowed three goals in the losing effort.
The Chippewas return to action Saturday, September 14, when they travel to Saint Louis, Mo., to take on Southwest Missouri State at 1 p.m.
