Wrestling Announces 2002-03 Schedule

MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan University wrestling team announced its 2002-03 schedule today.
Some of the dates that highlight this season's schedule are non-conference duals at Michigan State on Dec. 3, home against the University of Michigan on Jan. 5, and at Oregon State on Jan. 12. The Chippewas will also be competing in several tournaments including the Missouri Open on Nov. 24, Midlands on Dec. 28-29, Oregon Classic on Jan. 10, and National Duals on Jan. 18-19.
CMU goes for its fifth straight Mid-American Conference title this season, but the road will not be easy with duals at returning league runner-up Northern Illinois and Ohio. The Chippewas will host Kent State, Buffalo and Eastern Michigan. CMU will also host the MAC Tournament this season, and that will take place on March 8-9 in Rose Arena.
"I think this schedule will challenge our squad and help prepare us for the postseason," said coach Tom Borrelli. "Michigan and Michigan State will be tough as always, and our trip to Oregon will let us compete against some teams that we would not see otherwise. The National Duals host the 16 best teams in the nation, so we know that will be a great challenge. We have some tough road MAC duals with Northern Illinois and Ohio, but I am excited to be able to host the MAC Tournament this season."
The Chippewas begin action on Nov. 9, when they head to the Michigan State Open.
