Mester Named MAC Co-Wrestler Of The Week

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University wrestler Jason Mester (Mineral Point, Wis./Jr.) was named the Mid-American Conference "Co-Wrestler of the Week" honor this week for his performance in last week's National Duals.
Also winning the award was Nick Nemeth, a 165-pounder from Kent State. Mester ran his undefeated record to 13-0 twith a pair of victories over the weekend. The junior decision fifth-ranked Gabe Vigil of Boise State, 9-2, and earned a major decision over 11th-ranked Luke Moffitt of Iowa, 11-1. Five of his victories this season have come over ranked opponents, including previously second-ranked Nate Parker of Oklahoma and fifth-ranked Coyte Cooper of Indiana at the Missouri Open.
With his performance at the National Duals, Mester has earned the No. 1 ranking by InterMat. He is also ranked seventh by Amateur Wrestling News and sixth by The Wrestling Mall.
This is the second time this season that Mester has won this award. He won it the first week of the season for his performance at the Missouri Open.
The 14th-ranked Chippewas return to action this Saturday, Jan. 25, when they travel to Findlay. The dual is set to start at 2 p.m.
