Field Hockey Beats Cornell, 3-1

The Central Michigan University field hockey team (1-3, 0-0 Mid-American) got its first victory of the season by scoring three unanswered goals to beat Cornell on Sunday afternoon, 3-1.
Cornell took the early lead with a goal at 13:24 by Gina Testa. Alisa Folk (Richmond, B.C./So.) tied the score at one by redirecting tipped ball into the goal. The goal came at 29:13 and was assisted by Tarah Trottier (Kitchener, Ont./Sr.).
Folk put CMU ahead for good with her second goal of the game and third goal of the weekend. She scored off an assist by Michelle Fogle (Columbus, Ohio/Jr.) at the 43:42 mark. Kristy Reed (South Wales, N.Y./Jr.) wrapped up the scoring with a goal off a penalty shot at 46:22.
Danielle Frank (Williamsville, N.Y/Fr.) got the victory. She made one save in the win. Lori Blutinger took the loss for the Big Red, making three saves.
CMU returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 18, when it travels to East Lansing to battle the Spartans of Michigan State. The game is set to take place at the MSU field hockey stadium right next to Spartan Stadium at 5 p.m.
