Chippewa Women Lose at Buffalo, 57-52

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Central Michigan University women's basketball team dropped its fifth straight decision here Wednesday night to the University at Buffalo, 57-52, in a Mid-American Conference tilt.
The Chippewas trailed at the half by a 30-26 margin but rallied to take a lead at 35-34 with 14:00 to play before the Bulls pulled back into the lead for good.
CMU is now 4-12 for the season and 0-5 in MAC play while Buffalo goes to 4-10 overall and 2-2 in the league.
Poor shooting once again doomed the Chippewas, meshing just 16-of-54 from the field for 29.6 percent. Buffalo made 18-of-42 for 42.9 percent.
CMU held a lopsided 39-28 edge in rebounding, an incredible 24 of them coming on the offensive end. Amanda Elwer led the Chippewas with 12 caroms.
CMU had just one player score in twin figures - 6-2 freshman Ann Skufca with 11. She posted a career-high 19 points on Saturday at Bowling Green. Casey Manning and Elwer added eight.
Game-high honors were shared by the Bulls' Jessica Kochendorfer and Allison Bennett with 18 each.
The Chippewas did come up with 11 steals in the game, four by Lindy Hatfield.
CMU returns home on Saturday to play Marshall at 2 p.m.
