Field Hockey Falls at Ball State, 4-1

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Central Michigan University field hockey team fell at Ball State on Saturday afternoon, 4-1.
The Chippewas falls to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-American Conference while Ball State improves to 3-7 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
CMU's lone goal came in the 63rd minute with Cortney Blanchard notching her first goal of the season off a penalty corner. Earning assists were Stasia Burroughs, her team-leading fourth assist, and Michelle Fogle.
The Cardinals got on the board first just 1:53 into the match with a goal from Chantelle Isaac assisted by Lindsay Quay. Quay then gave BSU a 2-0 lead in the 25th minute with a goal assisted by Jen Strodel.
Quay notched her second goal of the match 27 seconds into the second half, this time unassisted. The final Cardinal goal came in the 56th minute, this time by Theran Teach assist by Strodel.
Sarah Mancuso and Danielle Frank split time in net for CMU, both giving up two goals. Mancuso made five saves and Frank made two.
Ball State outshot CMU, 17-14, while CMU held the advantage in penalty corners, 8-0.
CMU heads to Columbus, Ohio tomorrow for a match with Ohio State. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
