The television show Friends averaged more than 20 millions viewers during its time on primetime television and included in the grouping of its biggest fans are Morgan Wills and her Central Michigan University women's basketball teammates.
"Friends has always been one of my favorite shows and something me and my teammates regularly watch together," said Wills. "It is a common bond I share with my teammates and something we can do together in our free time.
"Last summer, my apartment didn't have cable for like two months, so I watched a bunch of the episodes in my free time. My teammates and I are always quoting the show and, I think, we like it so much because we kind of wish we could be like them."
Another way that Wills has bonded with her teammates is the game "Catchphrase."
"I love to play 'Catchphrase' and I think I am addicted to it." Wills said. "The sad thing is I have played it so many times that I pretty much know all the answers. It is a great way to pass the time on the long bus rides. I always get really into it and it is just a great way to bond with my teammates and have a good time."
In her second season, the 5-8 guard has enjoyed helping the six newcomers CMU has on this year's team.
"Throughout my whole playing career I have always wanted to be a leader on my team, so this season I have tried to help the freshmen adjust to the college game because I remember what that was like last season," Wills said. "This year, I entered practice with a much better idea about what to expect and I tried to impart that knowledge on the newcomers. Just understanding the drills in practice and what we the coaches expect from us has made life easier because I feel better prepared for things."
Since she is so far away from home, Morgan has found that her teammates are like a second family to her.
"It is great to have such a close bond with my teammates because it tough being so far away from my family," said the Granville, Ohio native. "I am around my teammates so such that it is almost natural that they become a family to me. Everyone is so supportive and I just really enjoy being around them."
A player who is always full of energy and life, Morgan attributes this to her outlook on life.
"I feel blessed to have had such a great life," Wills said. "I have a great family, great friends and have had lots of awesome experiences. It's all those things that make me happy and give me energy every day."
