BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Central Michigan University wrestling team (9-4, 3-0 Mid-American Conference) cruised to a victory at MAC-rival Buffalo on Saturday night, 32-6.
The Bulls took an early lead with a win at 125 by Mark McKnight over CMU's Kyle Stoffer, 8-4. Tenth-ranked Jordan Webster of CMU tied the team score at three with a win at 133 over Cliff Smith, 4-0. CMU's took the lead for good at 141 as fourth-ranked Jason Mester won by injury default over Mike Trotta. Trotta was injured when Mester took him down in the first period.
CMU won the next five matches to put away the dual. Adam Cunningham picked up his second MAC victory with a major decision victory over Patrick Lloyd, 12-3. CMU senior Ty Morgan returned from injury and picked up his first MAC victory of the season at 157 with a win over Brian Sebaaly, 8-3. CMU's David Bolyard, ranked sixth, dominated his opponent at 165, earning a technical fall victory over Nick Rausenberger, 16-0.
One of the key matchups of the dual was at 174 as CMU's Kevin Carr took on 19th-ranked Ed Pawlak. The match ended regulation tied at one, and remained tied after three overtimes. In the fourth overtime Carr scored an escape and a takedown earn the victory, 4-2. Alex Lammers capped CMU's run with a major decision victory at 184 over Harold Sherrell, 11-0. Buffalo got back on the board with a win by former MAC champion Kyle Cerminara at 197 over Joe Yager, 7-3. CMU's Bill Stouffer capped the victory a major decision victory over Greg Thomas, 12-1.
CMU returns to action next Sunday, Feb. 15, when it travels to Columbus, Ohio to battle Ohio State. The dual is set to begin at 5 p.m.
