Women's Track Captures BG Invite

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Central Michigan University women's track squad dominated the competition at the BG Invite on Friday evening and took first place with a score of 217.
The Chippewas used nine first-place and nine second-place finishes to handily defeat the competition. Bowling Green finished second with 180 points, Detroit-Mercy finished third with 79, IPFW took fourth with 35 and Heidelberg rounded out the competition with 24.
CMU was led by Fallon Bailey in the sprints, she took first in the 60m (7.67) and second in the 200m (25.92).
Katherine Lolli picked up a first place for the middle-distance by taking the top spot in the 400m (58.20) while teammate Leslie Johnson took second (59.62). Lisa Krueger rounded out the middle-distance with a second-place performance in the 800m (2:16.50).
The distance runners finished with two firsts and a second. Cami Moll in the 1,600m (5:10.59) and Melissa Miller in the 5,000m (17:51.00) both grabbed the top spot. Danielle Quisenberry took second in the 3,000m with a time of 10:25.84.
The Chippewas dominated the field events, taking first in four of the six events.
Taking first were: Tamera Thomas in the high jump (5-7 3/4); Amanda Storck in the pole vault (11-11 1/4); Jackie Smart in the triple jump (39-1 3/4) and Katie Davis in the shot put (47-4 1/2).
CMU returns to action next week on Friday, Feb. 13, when they compete in the Penn State Invite at Penn State University.
