MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan University women's basketball team begins play in the 2004 Kraft Mid-American Conference Women's Basketball Tournament this weekend.
The Chippewas (5-22 overall) are the No. 13 seed and will face Bowling Green (18-9 overall), the No. 4 seed, in the first-round matchup on Saturday, March 6. Tipoff in Bowling Green's Anderson Arena is set for 1 p.m.
The winner of the CMU/Bowling Green first-round game will advance to the quarterfinals in Cleveland, Ohio. They will play the winner of the No. 5 Western Michigan/No.12 Akron first-round game on Wednesday, March 10, at 3 p.m. The quarterfinals through finals are hosted in Cleveland's Gund Arena, home of the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA.
All 13 teams in the Mid-American Conference make the tournament with the two division winners and the top remaining team receiving a first-round bye to Cleveland. Seed Nos. 4-8 host first-round matches.
