Men's And Women's Track Wrap-up Regional Competition

BATON ROUGE, La. -- The majority of the Central Michigan University men's and women's track teams concluded competition in the 2004 season at the Mideast Regional Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Don Wilkins was the lone Chippewa to advance to the NCAA Championship Meet in Austin, Texas. He finished fourth in the 5,000m with a time of 14:19.33. The top five in each event advance on to the championship meet.
CMU had three other males finish in the top 10. Pierre Vinson finished seventh in the 100m (10.36), Jeff Davis took eighth in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:07.63), Mike Sidlauskas finishd 10th in the hammer throw (193-2) and Dave Jones took 10th in the pole vault (16-5 1/4).
On the women's side, Jackie Smart led the way with a seventh-place finish in the triple jump. She had a mark of 42-6 1/4.
Katie Davis took ninth in the shot put (50-0 3/4), Jackie Bozin took 12th in the high jump (5-6 1/2) and Natasha Reynolds finished 16th in the javelin (126-0).
The men's team finished in 25th place in the region while the women finished 39th.
