Field Hockey Rolls Over Stanford, 5-0

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Central Michigan University field hockey team remains unbeaten after a 5-0 victory over Stanford on Saturday afternoon.
CMU moves to 2-0 this season with the victory. The match took place at the University of Iowa, where Stanford defeated the Hawkeyes, 5-1, the night before.
The offense was led by Erica Takach with two goals and one assist. Seven different Chippewas notched points in the match.
Takach scored the only goal of the first half off a penalty corner with Stasia Burroughs and Fogle assisting.
CMU racked up four goals in the second-half with Alicia Balanesi starting things off when she scored off a crossing pass from Takach. Kristy Reed knocked in a pass from Alisa Folk to give CMU a 3-0 lead. The next goal came from Allyson Doan, the first of her CMU career. Takach capped off the offensive outburst with her second goal, again off a penalty corner and this time assisted by Kim Ferris and Amy Kauffman.
CMU goalkeeper Danielle Frank earned her second shutout in a row, making three saves before giving way to Sarah Mancuso with two minutes remaining. It was Mancuso's first time in net for CMU.
CMU statistically dominated the match, out shooting the Cardinal, 21-3, and earning 13 penalty corners compared to two for Stanford.
CMU travels to Ann Arbor next for a pair of matches. CMU plays Michigan on Friday, Sept. 17 at 3 p.m., and Northeastern on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m.
