EASTLANSING - A dominating defensive performance by the Central Michigan University field hockey team led to a 1-0 shut out victory over Miami on Friday afternoon.
The Chippewas improve to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the Mid-American Conference. Miami falls to 4-4 and 0-1 in MAC play. The match was played at the Michigan State field hockey complex because CMU's new facility is still being constructed.

It's the fifth goal of the season for Takach. She has also scored the match-winning goal in each CMU victory this season.

CMU goalkeeper Sarah Mancuso made four saves to earn the first victory and shutout of her CMU career. Miami keeper Kerri Orr made 12 saves in the match.
CMU finished the match with 18 shots and 11 penalty corners. CMU plays its second match of the weekend tomorrow when it faces Louisville at 1 p.m. The match will again be played in East Lansing at the Michigan State field hockey complex.
