CMU Gymnasts Defeat Western Michigan

Senior Sara Burtinsky led Central Michigan University's gymnastics team to a Mid-American Conference win against Western Michigan here Sunday afternoon by a score of 194.550-192.675.
Burtinsky won the all-around competition with a score of 39.350, and placed first on beam with a score of 9.800. She also tied for first on vault with fellow Chippewa Mattie Crawford (9.850), placed second on floor (9.850), and tied for third on bars (9.850) with CMU Sophomore Sheena Smith.
Chippewa senior Kara Reighard won the floor exercise with a score of 9.875 and tied for first on bars with a score of 9.875. She also placed second in the all-around with a score of 38.825.
CMU freshman Rhiannon Banda-Scott and Smith were in a three-way tie for third place in vault with a score of 9.775.
CMU will host Stanford on Friday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. in Rose Arena. The Chippewas are currently 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the MAC.
