CMU Gymnasts Beat Preseason No.3 Pick Stanford University

Central Michigan University senior Kara Reighard led the Chippewas to a 195.925-194.675 gymnastics win against preseason No. 3 pick Stanford University here Friday night.
A crowd of 2,283 packed Rose Arena to watch the event.
Reighard won the all-around competition with a 39.350, placing first on both beam (9.875) and floor (9.875). She also tied for second on bars with a 9.850.
Chippewa senior Sara Burtinsky placed second in the all-around (39.225), and took third in bars (9.825), beam (9.800), and floor (9.825).
Freshman Rhiannon Banda-Scott captured first on vault with a score of 9.875, and tied for second on floor with a score of 9.850. These two scores set were career highs for Banda-Scott. Her previous highs in both events were 9.775.
CMU junior Mattie Crawford took second on vault (9.825) and tied for second on beam (9.825).
The Chippewas winning score against Stanford was a season high for the Chippewas.
Leading the way for Standford was Liz Tricase, who took first in beam with a score of 9.925.
CMU will travel to Kalamazoo on Sunday, Feb. 6 for the State of Michigan Classic at 1 p.m. The Chippewas are currently 5-1 overall, and 2-0 in the Mid-American Conference.
