MOUNT PLEASANT-- Though the weather isn't evident of it, the outdoor track season is upon us. The Central Michigan University women's track team will begin its 2005 outdoor season this Friday and Saturday, April 1-2, at the Indiana relays.
"We're excited about the new season," said coach Karen Lutzke. "It has been over a month since we've last competed. We are really looking forward to being able to get back out there."
The Chippewas weren't able to finish on the high note they had hoped for during the indoor season. Finishing in fifth place at the Mid-American Conference meet leaves the Chippewas looking to rebound in the outdoor season.
"We want to improve from the indoor season," said Lutzke. "We weren't that far out of first, it just shows there are a lot of good teams in the MAC. We're just going to go out there and see what we need to do to prepare for the MAC.
The outdoor season has a few different events and weather becomes a factor. We know we have no control over the weather, but we're ready to compete in the different elements."
Action at the Indiana Relays will begin at 5 p.m., on Friday and 10:30 a.m., on Saturday.
