Wrestling Hands Out Year-End Awards

MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan University wrestling celebrated another successful season and handed out team awards at its annual banquet.
Seniors Mitch Hancock and David Bolyard shared the team's top award, the "Chick Sherwood Award", which is presented to the squad's most valuable wrestlers. Hancock and Bolyard were both Mid-American Conference champions this season with Hancock earning All-America honors. Bolyard was an All-American in 2004.
Mark DiSalvo received the "Harry Richards Coaches Award", which is presented to the wrestler who perceivers through adversity to reach success. DiSalvo was an All-American and MAC Champion this season.
Wynn Michalak, CMU's first freshman All-American, earned three awards. The redshirt freshman won the awards for "Outstanding Freshman", most pins and most nearfalls. Bolyard won the award for most takedowns and Hancock was honored for scoring the most team points. Seniors Russ Vanderheyden and Alex Lammers received the TEAM award.
