Gritter Selected MAC Wrestler of the Week

MOUNT PLEASANT – Central Michigan University junior Bubba Gritter (Grandville, Mich./Grandville HS) has been named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week.
Gritter, competing at heavyweight, was 2-0 as the 10th-ranked Chippewas split a pair of duals last week. His pin in the third period against then-No. 9 Michigan’s Omar Maktabi secured a 21-12 victory for CMU on Friday. He followed that with an 8-3 decision over then-No. 2 Missouri’s Mark Ellis on Saturday.
Gritter is now 5-1 overall this season and has won four straight matches. He is ranked sixth nationally at heavyweight in this week’s NWCA/InterMat poll.
CMU returns to action Dec. 20, competing in the Reno Tournament of Champions in Reno, Nev.
