KENT, Ohio - Brittney Robinson continued her mastery of Central Michigan University hitters on Sunday as the Kent State junior struck out 12 batters while leading the Golden Flashes to a 4-2 win.
Yesterday, Robinson tossed a no-hitter while fanning 10 of the 16 Chippewas she faced in a five-inning affair.
CMU (11-19, 2-4 Mid-American) managed six hits off the Golden Flash ace in the second meeting, including a two-run homer in the fourth inning by Lindsey Calme that brought the Chippewas within a run, 3-2, after Kent posted three runs in the second.
The Chippewas wouldn't score again, though, as CMU stranded 11 runners on the afternoon while KSU (14-18, 4-3 Mid-American) added a single run in the fourth. Kent finished the day with five hits and a pair of errors.
Jessica Garvin (4-4) took the loss giving up five hits and four runs in three and a third innings. Jill DeRoche threw two and two thirds innings of hitless relief.
Kent State used four hits, including a two-run triple by Ashley Ball, to score three times in the second. The Flashes took advantage of a hit batter and two walks in the fourth to manufacture the final run of the game on a bases-loaded base on balls.
In addition to Calme's homer, also picking up hits for CMU were Brittany Decker, Suzie Giroux, Jacque Benedict, Christan Dhondt and Kim Cozat.
The Chippewas will step out of conference play on Wednesday for a doubleheader at Oakland (2 p.m.) before hosting Eastern Michigan on Friday (3 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m.).
