Brandon Sinnott Named MAC Wrestler of the Week

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University junior Brandon Sinnott (Allen Park, Mich./Allen Park HS) has been named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week.
Sinnott, ranked sixth nationally at 174 pounds in this week’s NWCA/InterMat poll, was a perfect 5-0 as CMU finished seventh at National Duals over the weekend. He was the lone Chippewa to post a win in all five matches and defeated a trio of ranked opponents on Saturday: No. 9 Josh Weitzel (Oklahoma), No. 12 Gabe Dretsch (Minnesota) and No. 13 Alton Lucas (Hofstra).
Sinnott earns the conference’s weekly honor for the second time this season and third time in his career. He has won nine straight matches and 13 of his last 14 overall. His 18-4 record is the best among his teammates.
The seventh-ranked Chippewas return home this weekend, hosting the Chippewa Challenge on Sunday. Cal Poly, Eastern Illinois, Gardner-Webb and No. 18 Tenn.-Chattanooga will also compete in the round-robin event. Action begins at 10 a.m. in Rose Arena.
