Four Grapplers Join Chippewas

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Four wrestlers have signed National Letters of Intent to join head coach Tom Borrelli and the
Ben Bennett (
"We're obviously excited with the accomplishments this class has had in high school and we think they are the right kind of young men to continue to improve and carry that success over to college," Borrelli said.
Below is a bio on each recruit:
Ben Bennett
158-3 career record heading into his senior year ... wrestling at 171 as a senior ... five-time youth All-American ... owns the school record for wins in a season (55), set as a sophomore ... also owns the record for wins by a freshman (50), pins in a season (36) ... ranked as the 17th best wrestler in the 160 pound division after his junior season ... helped carry his school to its first-ever state title as a junior, winning his second individual state title with a 53-1 record ... led his team to its highest win total (33) in school history, along with conference, district, and regional championships as a sophomore ... went 55-1 and finished third at states as a sophomore at 152 pounds ... won a state title at 140 pounds as a freshman, going 50-1 ... uncle, Tom, was a high school champion in Indiana and three-time NCAA DIII All-American at John Carroll University ... wrestles for Don Rinehart at Rockford High School ... chose CMU over Nebraska, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Eric Cubberly
Won the Division II 152 pound state title as a junior (51-1) ... ranked as the fourth best in the nation at his weight class by USA Wrestling Magazine ... finished third at 135 pounds as a sophomore ... finished second in the 125-pound division as a freshman ... earned All-American status by placing seventh out of 100-plus wrestlers at 152 pounds in freestyle at the Junior National Championships in 2007.
Scotti Sentes
Holds a 122-2 overall record entering his senior season ... won the Class 1A 119-pound state championship as a junior with a 42-0 record ... ranked as the No. 25 wrestler at 119 pounds among all classes and No. 7 junior by USA Wrestling Magazine in 2007 ... went 40-0 to claim the 112 pound state title as a sophomore ... went 40-2 as a freshman, earning the state title.
Ben Sergent
121-11 entering his senior season ... placed three times at the state meet ... three-time All-American ... won the national championship for the USA wrestling team ... won the Division III 112-pound title as a junior ... ranked No. 11 in the nation at 112 pounds after his junior season by USA Wrestling Magazine ... finished second at 103 pounds as a sophomore and fourth as a freshman ... rated the top 103 pound junior in the nation after his sophomore season by USA Wrestling Magazine ... named Academic All-Ohio and earned Academic All-American honors.
