Michalak Selected MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University senior wrestler Wynn Michalak (Caro, Mich./Caro HS) has been selected the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
Michalak, a mathematics/physical education major with a 3.81 grade-point average, improved to 18-1 with a 9-1 major decision over Michigan's Anthony Biondo on Jan. 20. Ranked fifth nationally at 197 pounds, Michalak moved into fifth place on the school's career victories list with the win. The Chippewas, then ranked ninth nationally, defeated then No. 4 Michigan, 21-13.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
