Wrestling Visits No. 10 Michigan Sunday

MOUNT PLEASANT A pair of top-20 teams will square off when Central Michigan visits Michigan in a nonconference wrestling dual on Sunday.
The Chippewas (3-1 overall) enter the matchup ranked 16th in this week’s NWCA/InterMat top 25 poll. The Wolverines (1-1) are ranked 10th nationally.
Michigan leads the all-time series, 18-4, but CMU has won each of the last two meetings. The Chippewas won at Ann Arbor, 21-12, two years ago. Last season, the ninth-ranked Chippewas topped No. 4 Michigan, 21-13, in front of a Rose Arena wrestling record crowd of 4,273.
Sunday’s dual is expected to feature two bouts between ranked competitors. Ranked freshmen are slated to meet at 125 pounds when CMU’s ninth-ranked Scotti Sentes faces Michigan’s No. 11 Mike Watts. At 174, No. 10 Mike Miller (CMU) takes on No. 1 Steve Luke (UM). CMU enters the weekend with five individuals ranked in the top 20 nationally of their respective weight classes.
CMU is in action for the first time since winning three of four matches at Northeast Duals on Nov. 29. Michigan placed sixth at the Cliff Keen Invitational last weekend, led by Steve Luke’s individual title at 174 pounds.
