Michalak Selected MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University senior wrestler Wynn Michalak (Caro, Mich./Caro HS) has been named Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Michalak finished runner-up at 197 pounds at the NCAA Championships. He was CMU's first national finalist since Casey Cunningham in 1999. Michalak, a four-time conference champion and three-time MAC Wrestler of the Year, earned All-America honors for the third time in his career.

Michalak maintains a 3.81 grade-point average as a mathematics major. He is a four-time Academic All-MAC honoree.

CMU finished tied for seventh at the NCAA Championships. Four Chippewas earned All-America honors.
