Edwards Places 11th at NCAA Regional

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Senior Jenaie Edwards ran the second-fastest 800m time of her career on Friday at the NCAA Regional Championship hosted by Arkansas. However, it wasn't enough to advance to Saturday's final.
The school record holder in the event placed 11th with a time of 2:08.09. The top eight times (top two from each heat along with next two best marks) advanced to the finals where bids for the NCAA Championships are at stake.
"Jenaie ran a smart race," coach Karen Lutzke said. "I am pleased with how she raced. She just didn't have enough the final 100m. Jenaie did what she could and that's all we could ask."
The top five finishers in Saturday's final advance to the NCAA Championships. Western Michigan's Becky Horn turned in the top prelim time at 2:05.32.
