Women's Track and Field To Host CMU Quadrangular
2/4/2009 12:00:00 AM | Track & Field
MOUNT PLEASANT- The Central Michigan women’s track and field team hopes to have another successful weekend competing in its second scored event while playing host to Mid-American Conference foes Bowling Green, Toledo and Northern Illinois.
“We are really excited for another scored meet,” head coach Karen Lutzke said. “We are just looking to make improvements upon every meet leading up to the MAC Championships.”
The Chippewas will look to take advantage of running on their own track for the first time in almost a month, something Lutzke thinks could be very beneficial for her team.
“It is a great opportunity to be able to compete at home, we only get to do that three times this year so we need to make them count,” Lutzke said. “It is helpful not having to travel and knowing everything about the track.”
With the MAC Championships three and a half weeks away, many athletes will compete on Friday to tune up for the conference meet.
“Most of our athletes will be running this weekend,” Lutzke said. “We are just looking forward to going out and competing at home.”
The meet will begin Friday at 5 p.m. at the Jack Skoog Indoor Track.
