Mount Pleasant- The Central Michigan women’s track and field team will travel to Eastern Michigan University this weekend to compete in the two day EMU Invitational.
The non-scoring meet will begin Friday with the hammer throw, shot put and distance events and all other events will conclude on Saturday. The Chippewas look forward to an in state meet and are hopeful for some good conditions.
“So far the weather looks like it could be the best conditions we will have competed in so far,” head coach Karen Lutzke said. “With just a short trip and good weather it could be a very good weekend.”
With this meet the maroon and gold look to sharpen up their skills and times as they get one meet closer to the Mid-American Conference Championships (May 14-16).
“This meet is just another opportunity to compete and get ourselves ready for the MAC meet,” Lutkze said.
The Chippewas have already qualified four athletes for the regional event; they hope to add some more to that list this weekend.
“We are going out to compete but also in hopes to qualify some more athletes for regionals,” Lutkze said. “It is great that we already have four women qualified, but we know we can add some more to the list.”
The non-scoring meet will begin at 4 p.m. this Friday at Eastern Michigan University.
