Jakubowski Takes First in Javelin at EMU Twilight

Ypsilanti, Mich. - Allison Jakubowski captured another first place victory in the javelin throw in day two of the EMU Twilight meet. Jakubowski won the event with a throw of 134-7.
"Allison had a really solid day in the javelin," head coach Karen Lutzke said. "She did a great job for us and it was great to see her win the event."
The Chippewas made some good progress at the two-day meet, something Lutkze was happy about.
"As a team we are just continuing to make some really good progress," Lutzke said. "The conditions at this meet were the best we have competed in all year so that was very beneficial."
Another highlight in the field events for CMU was Tanisha Johnson's third-place finish in the long jump. She set a new personal best with a leap of 19-0 3/4.
On the track the maroon and gold relay teams placed fourth and fifth with the 4x100 taking fourth with a time of 47.10 and the 4x400 team taking fifth with a time of 3:54.50. Jordan Dunn and Cara Dukes both took seventh place in their events. Dunn was seventh in the 100m (12.34) and Dukes in the 400m (56.50). Raeanne Lohner took sixth in the 800m (2:15.52) and Shanaye Carr took fifth in the 100m hurdles (14.85).
"We are improving meet to meet," Lutzke said. "Every athlete is working very hard and making improvements in their events."
