Chippewas Complete Day One of Jesse Owens Classic.

COLUMBUS, OHIO- The Central Michigan women’s track and field team completed day one of the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State University.

After a couple hours of rain delays the Chippewas completed the first day of competition as they faced schools from around the Midwest including many Big Ten schools.

Allison Jakubowski once again showed well for the Chippewas in the javelin throw. Jakubowski finished third in the event with her throw of 132-11.

Other Chippewas placing on the evening include Elizabeth Carpenter in the 3000m steeplechase. Carpenter placed 15th in the event with her time of 11:15.58. Freshman Holly Anderson took 18th with her time of 11:40.07.

The Maroon and Gold will be back in action tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m.
