STORYLINES
Going the Distance -- Brandie Baker and Shonda Long each played the full 40 minutes against Northern Colorado. It’s the eighth time in Baker’s career she’s gone the distance, and the third time in Long’s career. Long also played 42 minutes in a contest that went to two overtimes. Kaihla Szunko is the only other player on CMU’s roster to play an entire game (twice).
I remember You.... -- During head coach Sue Guevara’s time at Michigan, she faced Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder five times. Guevara was 3-2 against Bluder during her tenure, including a 1-1 mark in Iowa City.
Road Warriors -- Because of the final stages of the construction on McGuirk Arena, the Chippewas open the season with nine consecutive contests on the road and outside the state of Michigan. Its the longest streak in program history.
Three and Counting -- Central Michigan has started 3-0 in a season for the first time since 2005-06, and for just the second time since 1998-99. The 2005-06 squad won its first six decisions and nine of its first 10.
The Bigger They Are... -- CMU knocked off the defending national championship runner-up and No. 23 ranked Louisville, 84-75, on Dec. 2, 2009 at Rose Center. The Chippewas finished the 2009-10 campaign at 1-2 against teams ranked in the polls (losses to No. 17 DePaul and No. 17 Texas). The Maroon and Gold are 1-4 against ranked opponents under head coach Sue Guevara.
