Szunko Earns Back-to-Back MAC West Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Senior Kaihla Szunko was named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week on Monday, her third honor of the season and the sixth out of a possible seven for Central Michigan in 2010-11.

Szunko became the 20th member of CMU's 1,000 point club with 22 against Wichita State in a 98-73 victory. The senior now has nine double-doubles in 11 games this season and ranks in the top-10 nationally in rebounds, double-doubles and steals.

She went 8-for-13 from the field and snared 10 rebounds in just 26 minutes.

CMU (8-3) concludes a three-game home stand against Pittsburgh on December 31.
