MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan head wrestling coach Tom Borrelli has announced the addition of 15 student-athletes to the Chippewas' wrestling program.
Five student-athletes have signed a National Letter of Intent, while 10 others will join the program as preferred walk-ons.
"We're really excited to have these 15 individuals join our program," Borrelli said. "We feel they are the right type of hard-working student-athletes to fit in here and fill our needs."
The 15 newcomers represent five different states and are projected to fill eight of the 10 weight classes. The five NLI signees combined to win seven state championships during their high school careers.
CMU must replace six seniors who helped lead the Chippewas to the 2010 Mid-American Conference regular season and tournament championships. One of just four schools to qualify 10 individuals for the NCAA Championships, CMU finished tied for 12th at the national tournament and produced three All-Americans.
