| | | Scouting the Falcons -- Bowling Green was tabbed as the favorite in the East Division and the favorite to claim the Mid-American Conference tournament title (37-of-47 votes). The Falcons ripped off 15 consecutive victories after falling in their season opener to Evansville, and went on the road to defeat Buffalo earlier this week. All-Time Series -- Bowling Green owns a 42-13 edge in the all-time series dating back to 1980, and have won three of the four meetings in head coach Sue Guevara’s first three seasons. The Chippewas won the lone meeting last season, snapping a nine-game winning streak in the series for the Falcons. CMU’s last win in Bowling Green came on Feb. 8, 1995 (60-58). Smooth Criminal -- Kaihla Szunko became just the fourth player in school history to pile up 200 career steals with four against Northern Illinois on Jan. 8. Comeback Kids -- CMU erased a 16-point hole against Toledo to claim a comeback victory on Wednesday. It was the largest comeback victory for the Chippewas since a 16-point comeback win against Bowling Green last season. CMU led by more than one point for only the game’s final 24 seconds. Ahead When it Counts -- CMU was ahead for just 1:27 seconds in its win over Toledo on Wednesday, including the game’s final 40 seconds. Creating a Winning Culture -- The Chippewas have 42 wins and counting in the last three seasons, the most since a three-year span starting in 1991-92 (42). Keep Them Under 45... -- CMU is 11-34 under Sue Guevara when allowing its opponent to shoot 45 percent or better from the field. | |
