With her 25 points against Akron, Kaihla Szunko moves into 12th all-time in Central Michigan history, passing Tracy Creten (1979-82) and Shelly Woods (1997-00) with 1,140.
Kaihla Szunko's 25 points marks the fourth-consecutive double-figure scoring effort, the longest active streak among the Chippewas. Brandie Baker holds the season-high eight straight games with double-digit scoring efforts.
Kaihla Szunko's 13 rebounds against Akron moved her into No. 4 all-time (887) in CMU history, passing Carla Sterk (1990-93) and Gina Mazzolini (1975-78). She is 113 rebounds away from becoming the third player in CMU history to reach 1,000 career rebounds.
Shonda Long hit her 52nd three-pointer of the season on Saturday against Akron, moving her up to No. 8 on the CMU single-season list. Her sophomore season (53) sits at No. 6 and her junior season (76) sits at No. 3 on the all-time chart. She is the only player in Central Michigan history to connect on 50 threes in a season three times.
With her one three-pointer against Akron, Shonda Long now has 204 in her career. She is one of three active players in the MAC with 200-plus three-pointers, along with Bowling Green's Lauren Prochaska (291) and Tracy Pontius (206).
CMU has now defeated Akron in nine of the past 11 meetings, including the last five meetings in Mount Pleasant.
The Chippewas are now 25-8 on their home floor in the last three seasons.
Brandie Baker played the full 40 minutes in a contest for the 18th time in her career, the 11th time this season.
