Central Michigan Postmatch Quotes
CMU vs. Eastern Michigan - Feb. 17, 2011
Head Coach Tom Borrelli
Opening statement:
I think we're getting better at executing the things we're working on in practice. We've been really focused on getting the first takedown in a lot of matches and also being more aggressive—getting our hands on the guys first and making them back up and opening up our offense. I think we did a good job of that tonight. We've also been focusing on top, and we pretty much dominated them on top. Craig Kelliher had to win the match on top, Jarod Trice had to win the match on top. The matches that were pretty close we were pretty good on top.
On the team's performance overall:
I've said we've been pretty inconsistent most of the year. Some guys will be, others will be off, then the next week it will be other guys that will be off and other guys that will be on. This was the first time we were really consistent throughout the whole dual meet, and this is a good time for that to happen because the season is winding down, and we need to have that consistency to be successful not only in our last dual meet but also in the MAC Tournament.
On Sunday's dual meet against Kent State:
It's going to be a very, very good and exciting dual meet. One way or the other, it's going to come down to who wins the crucial close matches, the flip matches. That's what it's going to come down to, and hopefully we're ready for it.
On Scotti Sentes:
Scotti's been wrestling really good. The kid from Buffalo, Kevin Smith, is very good, the kid from Old Dominion, Kyle Hutter, is really good—Scotti's wrestled really, really good competition this year. Our whole team has. Like Scotti said, the guy he wrestled tonight is kind of a flip-flopper, and Scotti is really good at wrestling those guys.
Junior 133-pounder Scotti Sentes
On the win over Eastern Michigan:
I thought we looked a lot better today. This team, unlike most teams in the MAC, was coming at us and it was able to open up our offense. I thought we were a lot more offensive and we scored a lot more takedowns than we did against Buffalo. I was really happy with the way we wrestled today.
On his win over Filiberto Colon:
I know he's really funky. He either wanted to pin me or get pinned. He wasn't worried about going on his own back. The guy I have for Kent State is kind of like that too, so it was good to go out there and wrestle a kid similar to a kid I'll wrestle later on.
On the team only giving up three takedowns in the dual:
I think it was our offense. We were so offensive we didn't really give them a chance to get in on us. We took a lot more shots than we have, and I think that shut down their offense and made us look a lot better than we have in the past.
