Central Michigan vs. Eastern Michigan
February 26, 2011 (McGuirk Arena)
CMU 68, EMU 67
Head Coach Sue Guevara
opening statement...
"I'm going to miss those two (Shonda Long and Kaihla Szunko). Those are two warriors right there. I was really pleased with our perseverance. I was pleased with our warrior mentality that we had the whole game. That was a big win. That was a real big win for us. It was for the seniors and the crowd was absolutely awesome."
on Jalisa Olive's defensive perfomance...
"Jalisa Olive was outstanding today. She defended and did a really nice job on Cassie Schrock. She didn't want to handle the ball because Jalisa made it very difficult for her."
on closing out the season...
"We have momentum going. That's what we want to do, we want to keep that momentum going and continue to improve as a team."
Senior Kaihla Szunko
on the game-winning shot...
"We knew the play we were going to run. I knew I was going to get the ball even though I was kind of struggling a little bit from the field. Everybody gave me the confidence and told me to take the shot. I didn't want to hesitate and it just came naturally."
Senior Shonda Long
on the 40 minute delay before the game...
"We were telling everybody to stay warm, keep shooting and keep stretching. Don't lose your focus."
