The victory was CMU's first at Miami since 1992, a span of 12 contests.
The Chippewas won despite giving up 80 points for just the second time this season. They improved to 2-7 when giving up 80 points or more.
CMU remained a perfect 11-0 when leading at the half and improved to 12-3 when shooting at least 40 percent from the field.
Kaihla Szunko 's 17 rebounds are the most by a Chippewa this season.
Shonda Long was held without a made field goal for the first time since her sophomore season, when she went 0-for-1 in 12 minutes against Akron in the MAC Tournament on March 11, 2009, a span of 51 games.
Kaihla Szunko has started every game each of the last three seasons, and extended her consecutive starts streak to 83 against the RedHawks. Shonda Long also extended her consecutive starts streak to 51.
With six points against the RedHawks, Shonda Long moved into eighth all-time on CMU's scoring chart with 1,262 points. She passed Nikki Thompkins (1991-94), who finished her career with 1,258. Long now sits 111 points shy of LaTanga Cox (1983-86, 1,373) for seventh all-time.
With her 17 rebounds, Kaihla Szunko becomes the fourth player in CMU history to eclipse 900 career rebounds with 907. She remains fourth on CMU's all-time rebounds list, 70 behind Sue Nissen (1988-91) for third and 93 shy of becoming the third player in program history to reach the 1,000 rebound mark.
With her four steals, Kaihla Szunko passed former teammate Britni Houghton (2007-10, 217) for third all-time on CMU's career steals list with 218.
Laura Baker made her return to the floor tonight after missing the season's first 20 games with a knee injury. Baker registered a rebound and an assist in five minutes in her first action since CMU's loss to Kent State in the 2010 MAC Tournament on March 10.
With her seven assists, Brandie Baker now has 112 on the year, tying her for eighth on CMU's single-season chart. It is the second 100-plus assist campaign of her career (102 as a freshman).
Kylie Welch hit a pair of three-pointers and finished with a season-high eight points against the RedHawks.
Taylor Johnson dished out a season-high five assists against the RedHawks.
Brandie Baker played the full 40 minutes against Miami. It is the 18th time in her career she's played an entire contest, the 11th time in 2010-11.
CMU cracked the 100-point mark for the 13th time in program history, the fifth time under head coach Sue Guevara .
The Chippewas have 14 wins in their first 21 games for the first time since the 1990-91 campaign, when the Maroon and Gold went 16-5. At 6-3, CMU is also off to its best nine-game start in MAC play since that same season, which featured an 8-1 record in the opening nine games of conference play.
CMU has now won nine games away from its home floor, the most since the 1990-91 campaign that featured 12 wins away from Mount Pleasant.
