Day One Recap
ANN ARBOR - Members of Central Michigan's men's and women's track and field teams competed on the second day of the Len Paddock Invitational Saturday.
Sophomore Alex Rose capped the day for the Chippewas with his second-place finish in the discus. He posted a distance of 178-11. Teammate Ryan McCullough posted a mark of 130-1 behind Rose.
Kayla Brindley and Katelyn Christensen competed in the women's discus. Brindley took seventh (134-0) and Christensen finished ninth (131-3).
Jacob McDonald was the lone CMU high jumper on the men's side, but he boasted a runner-up finish with a height of 6-4 3/4. Samantha Stein came in fourth with a mark of 5-4 1/4 and Misha Lamphere cleared 5-0 1/4 on the women's side.
Three Chippewas threw the shot put. Senior John Calvert led the trio with a distance of 53-11 1/4, good for fourth. George Flanner and Rose were right behind Calvert as they both tied for fifth with marks of 53-9 1/4.
Next weekend is the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships at Northern Illinois University.
