Wodrich spent the last two seasons at Western Michigan under former head coach Tasha McDowell. During the 2010-11 season he was the director of operations before earning a spot as an assistant last season.
"I am extremely happy to have Andrew joining our staff," said Guevara. "He will bring a new energy and mindset to our program. He is great at player development, and has very strong ties in the Midwest."
Wodrich's primary responsibilities at CMU will include player development, community relations and scouting. He will also work primarily with the perimeter players.
Before finding a home in the Mid-American Conference, Wodrich spent six seasons working for the Midwest Basketball Academy in Mishawaka, Ind., serving as the Vice President and Director of the Indiana Elite Girl's Basketball Program his last three years.
While with the Midwest Academy, Wodrich effectively managed and coached the nationally known Elite Basketball team. He won a state championship in 2008 and claimed runner-up finishes in 2007 and 2009. During his tenure he coached 10 of his student-athletes on to Division I basketball.
"I really enjoyed watching Andrew's teams play when he was an AAU coach," commented Guevara. "His teams always played with speed on both ends of the court, were very hard workers and fundamentally sound. All are traits that I look forward to him bringing to CMU."
Wodrich has lasting ties to the Chippewa community, being a guest speaker and camp counselor during Chippewa basketball camps.
"I am really excited to be a member of the Chippewa family and would like to thank Coach Guevara for giving me this opportunity," said Wodrich. "I am ready to bring my passion and energy to such an already great staff and team. I look forward to embracing the winning culture here at CMU and bringing home a MAC championship."
Wodrich earned his bachelor of arts degree in physical education from Bethel College in 2007. He played two seasons for the Pilots' men's basketball team, from 2004-06.
