MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan head wrestling coach Tom Borrelli has announced the wrestling program's schedule for the 2012-13 season, a slate that includes at least seven duals against teams that finished in the top 25 at the 2012 NCAA Championships.
With a lineup that returns three multiple All-American performers, the Chippewas will open the season with a home dual versus in-state rival Michigan inside McGuirk Arena on Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. The Wolverines finished 11th at last year's NCAA Championships.
Another trio of strong teams will test the Maroon and Gold two weeks later as they prepare for the Mid-American Conference season with the duals versus Oklahoma, Hofstra and Cornell at the Northeast Duals in Troy, N.Y. on Nov. 30.
The home portion of the Chippewas' schedule also includes non-conference tilts versus Bucknell (Jan. 6) and Old Dominion (Feb. 3) and conference matchups versus Buffalo (Dec. 8), Kent State (Jan. 27) and Eastern Michigan (Feb. 8).
The MAC schedule will also include road duals at Ohio (Nov. 30) and Northern Illinois (Jan. 18).
The remainder of CMU's non-conference schedule will include trips to the Midlands Championships in Evanston, Ill. (Dec. 29/30), the Virginia Duals (Jan. 11/12), Missouri (Jan. 20), Stanford (Feb. 16), Cal Poly (Feb. 17) and Michigan State (Feb. 22). The Chippewas will also take on Cal Bakersfield in San Louis Obispo, Calif., on Feb. 17.
The 2013 MAC Championships will be held in Buffalo, N.Y., March 10, while the NCAA Championships will take place in Des Moines, Iowa from March 21-23.
