CMU Hoops Quick Hitters
- The Chippewas play their final MAC East opponent Saturday. CMU is 4-1 versus the East Division this season and has scored 81 points per game during cross-divisional play.
- Sophomore Crystal Bradford recorded her 20th career double-double versus Buffalo, pulling down 10 rebounds to go with her game-high 24 points.
- CMU has won three of the last four meetings against Miami, including a 78-64 win in the MAC Tournament last season.
- Sophomore Jas’Mine Bracey scored a season and MAC career-high 18 points versus Buffalo.
- Saturday’s game is the first of two straight on the road for the Chippewas. CMU is just 3-7 this season in true road games.
- CMU improved to a perfect 7-0 when scoring 80- plus points this season and 9-0 when allowing fewer than 60 points with their win over Buffalo.

Bounce Back versus Bulls
The Chippewas snapped their two-game skid with an 86-51 win over Buffalo last Sunday. Sophomore Crystal Bradford led the way with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore Jas’Mine Bracey had her best game of the season by scoring a MAC career high 18 points in just 20 minutes off the bench.
On the Road Again
After playing six home games in the month of January, the Chippewas will play their third of four roads games in the month of February. CMU is just 3-7 on the road this season and has dropped its last two road games, falling to Bowling Green and Ball State.
Home Sweet Home
In comparison, the Chippewas have played tremendously at home, posting a 9-2 record and perfect 6-0 mark in MAC play. The Chippewas have scored 85-plus in each of their last three home games and have gone over 70 points in nine of their 11 home contests.
Sharing is Caring
The Chippewas dished out 24 assists last Sunday versus Buffalo, their second highest total of the season. Senior Brandie Baker led the way with a season-high six assists, while Bradford dished out five. CMU has handed out 20-plus helpers in four contests this season and ranks second during league play with 14.9 assists per game.
Block Party
Senior Brandie Baker and sophomore Crystal Bradford have hosted a “Block Party” all season, helping the Chippewas rank first in the MAC with 4.3 blocks per contest. Both players rank in the top 10 in career blocks and Baker recorded a career-high four in the win versus Buffalo Sunday.
Tracking the MAC Tournament
Central Michigan currently sits as the No. 3 seed in next month’s FirstEnergy MAC Tournament at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio and would earn a bye to the quarterfinals.
If the MAC Tournament started today: (First round games at campus sites March 9)
- No. 12 Ohio at No. 5 Miami
- No. 11 Kent State at No. 6 Bowling Green
- No. 10 Northern Illinois at No. 7 Buffalo
- No. 9 Western Michigan at No. 8 Eastern Michigan
- Toledo and Ball State would earn double byes to the semifinals as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, while Central Michigan and Akron would earn byes to the quarterfinal round as the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds.
Run, Run, Run
With one of the nation’s best offenses, Central Michigan has been nearly unstoppable when it reaches the 80-point plateau under head coach Sue Guevara. The Chippewas, who are a perfect 7-0 this season when scoring 80-plus, are 41-7 overall when accomplishing the feat in Guevara’s five-plus seasons.
High-Octane Offense
The Chippewas enter Saturday’s contest featuring the 13th ranked scoring offense in the country at 75.1 points per game. CMU also ranks among the best three-point shooting teams in the country, coming in at No. 14 with 7.7 three-point field goals made per game.
Chippewas Remain in Top 25 Mid-Major Poll
Despite a loss to Ball State last week, the Chippewas win over Buffalo helped them hold steady in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll. CMU currently ranks No. 22 in the poll and has wins over three teams ranked above them - No. 2 Green Bay, No. 5 Toledo and No. 15 South Dakota State.
Getting Defensive
The Chippewas’ defense has taken its play to a new level during MAC play, limiting opponents 59.5 points per contest, nearly seven below their season average. Bowling Green became the first opponent to score more than 70 and shoot better than 50 percent against the Chippewas, resulting in their first loss in MAC play.
