SPRINGFIELD, Mo - The Central Michigan field hockey slipped to 0-4 in the Mid-American Conference on Saturday with a 2-1 loss to Missouri State at the Bears' Betty and Bobby Allison North Stadium.
The Chippewas (1-13 overall) were able to hold the Bears (2-10 overall, 1-3 MAC) to only five shots in the second half, but couldn't complete the comeback after falling into a 2-0 halftime deficit.
"We didn't start out very well in the first half," CMU coach Molly Pelowski said. "They were very aggressive and got on the board quickly. We made some key adjustments at half and had opportunities, we scored once, but unfortunately we just couldn't take enough advantage."
Maude Stalars scored the Chippewas' goal with 15 minutes remaining. Ally Davis and Olivia Wagner assisted.
CMU finished with a 10-7 advantage in penalty corners and registered 17 total shots. Missouri State finished with 18 shots.
CMU sophomore goalkeeper Lily Amadio finished the game with six saves. Feli Heinzel and Megan Drew split the game in goal for the Bears.
The Chippewas will take on Saint Louis (1-10) on Sunday at the Billikens' Gallagher Park.
