KENT, Ohio - The Central Michigan field hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision Sunday to Kent State in a Mid-American Conference match at the Golden Flashes' Murphy-Mellis Field.
The Chippewas (1-10 overall, 0-3 MAC) were outshot 31-2 in the game and were held without a shot in the first half. The Golden Flashes (7-5, 3-0) also had a 13-1 advantage in penalty corners.
"Kent played very well," CMU coach Molly Pelowski said. "They controlled the game from the start. We knew we needed to play a very detailed game, we knew we needed to play hard and didn't do that. The result was what it was.
"We'll be better, we will be better. We just have to get our nose to the grindstone and work hard. Belief and heart, that's what we need."
Kent State's Alison Harmatz registered a pair of goals.
CMU sophomore Lily Amadio finished with 11 saves.
The Chippewas will play two non-conference games next weekend in Iowa City, Iowa. On Friday, Oct. 7, CMU will play Iowa (7-4) at 4 p.m.; on Saturday, Oct. 8, they will take on UC Davis at 2 p.m.
